teaching & pedagogy

I have been teaching a public health graduate-level course since the spring 2023 term at UNC Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health on public health in practice & the ins & outs of a 200-hour service practicum for students in the US & globally. I have coached & mentored 130+ students on securing & conducting their public health service practicums with community-based organizations (CBOs).

I look forward to continuing to grow my teaching portfolio & pedagogical methods grounded in anti-oppressive teaching principles, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • quantitative & qualitative methods in global health, climate, & toxicology

  • environmental justice & community resilience in the face of climate-related challenges

  • systems issues in air & water pollution studies

  • political economy & ecology of health & air pollution

  • methods to employing an interdisciplinary lens to the climate & health nexus (bridging natural & social sciences)

  • mis/dis-information & obstruction in the climate information ecosystem, particularly vested interests in framing & messaging (including stalled political action & quiescence strategies)
